CONTEMPORARY MADONNA II

55" x 55" (140 cm x 140 cm)

This piece is a further development of Contemporary Madonna I. The form is even more centered. Colour is very significant in this piece.
As I go through 'colour phases' every colour has symbolism, its own energy frequency, and conveys something special and unique. Different shades of rose pink tinted with yellow show the quality of unconditional love. Blue emerging from the center - a window to the Universe - expresses freedom and peace.
This is the first time I have ever used blue in my work. I know this announces some deep change in me. Also, the richness of gold, previously expressed in delicate metallic threads, now appears as a strong border as well as throughout the piece. Madonnas appear on an abstract gold background, an in Byzantine and early Gothic paintings of the Middle Ages. This gives a sense of something unworldly, yet of this world. Every one of us carries the Madonna archetype in our own heart.
